Role Overview
UI/UX Designer & FED

At Brother↗, I work across a pretty wide ecosystem; the main website, product dashboards, mobile & desktop apps, as well as customer-support experiences. The challenge is making products that can be technical and fragmented feel connected, especially when the people using them range from first-time printer owners to experienced creatives and business customers. Sometimes that means simplifying how someone sets up or manages a device, and other times it means helping them understand which product is actually right for them. A lot of the work lives between the physical and digital experience, where the interface has to clearly explain what a machine is doing (or why it has suddenly decided not to do it).

My Role

I’m involved early in projects, working closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and stakeholders to understand what we should build before deciding how it should look. My work moves between research, structure, design, testing, and the smaller details that make an experience feel clear and trustworthy. Because these products serve very different audiences, I spend a lot of time thinking about hierarchy, guidance, terminology, and how much complexity someone actually needs to see.

I’m very intentional about details and taste because small decisions compound quickly across an ecosystem this large. I care about hierarchy, copy, defaults, edge cases, and the moments where guidance has to make a physical product easier to understand. For me, good design is knowing when to explain more, when to step back, and when doing less is actually the better choice.
